It's not surprising that the jobless rate is climbing despite extension of unemployment benefits and so-called stimulus packages. Without policies that encourage real growth and development of American industry and businesses, there can be no actual "job creation." What is needed are lower, not higher, taxes on industry; fewer, not more, regulations. Neither major political party has appeared to really recognize that without the freedom to do business, the productivity that underlies our strength as a nation will continue to erode. ~~~ S. Lane
