Last night I posted that I had heard a report from an anonymous source that AARP would endorse Obama Health Care. Today that report was confirmed.
In my opinion, AARP, while posing as the advocate of retired Americans, is actually first and foremost a business selling insurance and other products. It is also a very influential liberal lobby that does not necessarily represent the opinions and values of its members. There are alternatives to AARP membership. "Senior discounts" are available directly through many hotels and most restaurants. There are other options for insurance worth shopping around for.
Joining an organization whose political positions one seriously is opposed to just for "perks" is disingenuous and I hope members who disagree with their position on the health care bill "vote" with their dollars and look elsewhere for the services AARP membership, for a cost of course, provides. ~~~ S.
