Fwd: Tax Poem.......Read it thoroughly!

I found this item in a lists of pending posts for this blog. Pending because for a time now I've been too appalled and shocked at what's happening in Washington DC to even want to write about it. Perhaps I'm grieving for my country and have been in that first stage of grieving, denial, even though I fully recognize that there's no denying what is going on. Speaking out may or may not have any impact, but I remind myself that had the brave colonists thought that in 1776, as they well could have facing the might of the British Empire, there would be no United States of America.
S. Lane

At first this "poem" may appear to be just humor. It isn't. Read all the way through and I think the point will be clear.  /sl

Tax Poem

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think..

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore..

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our
nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had
absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in
the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened?
Can you spell 'politicians?'

Sue Whalen blogging as S Lane said...

I originally found this "tax poem" back in December 2008. Like I said in the forward which I wrote this evening (Feb 27, 2009), I have been too appalled with the decision that 52% of the voters made in November 2008 and with the complacency that, for the most part, Americans have about the actions of the new administration to want to even think about what has happened and is happening. But I just decided it's time to join the voices of those still fighting for what we as Americans believe in.

So from time to time, in the personal of "S. Lane," I'll be sharing come thoughts and items of interest.
